Problem Statement

Due to a variety of socioeconomic factors, African American women are facing critical mental health crises. This study explores relevant factors and offer the solution of online and face-to-face self-care workshops. The mental health issues of African American women are exasperated by racial stereotypes, discrimination, the strong Black woman trope and lack of support.

 

Solution

Re-Self is an organization that provides self-care workshops to women through self-awareness and consciousness. Whilst the content of the workshop is geared toward the experiences of African American Women, it is inclusive of all women. Re-Self is an online and face-to-face workshop that provides self-care education and tools to individuals and communities with a focus on self-awareness and consciousness.

 

Target Market

The target market for Re-Self will start with African American women as an infinity group because the founder’s background, experiences, social and economic statis is similar the target market. The three-year plan is to expand the target market to people of all backgrounds.

 

Competitive Edge and Funding

The competitive edge for Re-Self is it fills an immediate need, making self-care services available to all, particularly those who do not have resources to afford it. The projected first year’s operating cost for Re-Self is $140,720. The companies projected first year’s income is $144,000 if we can provide a total of eighty workshops for the year at $99 per participant

 

Mission

The mission for Re-Self is to “Create access to a variety of self-care services that is available and accessible to all, with a focus on infinity groups that are typically head of households in marginalized communities”

 

Vision

The Vision for Re-Self is to transform communities by transforming how those from historically marginalized communities see themselves and their surroundings by introducing tools and techniques of self-awareness and consciousness.
